Meet the Coaches
Our coaches work hard to run practices, help swimmers improve their technique and times, and create lineups for "A" meets, sometimes making judgment calls when needed. If you ever have questions or concerns about your swimmer’s participation or anything else, please feel free to reach out to the Swim Reps directly at [email protected]. This approach follows both Montgomery County Swim League and Eldwick Sharks guidelines.
Hi! My name is Kat Kalin, and I am so excited to be one of your head coaches for the 2026 season! Some of you may recognize me from the pool since I am a former Eldwick Shark. Others might recognize me because I taught 8th grade history at Hoover for two years, and I currently teach at Whitman (sorry, Bulldogs!). A little about my swimming history: I joined the pre-team when I was 4 years old and swam all the way until I was 18. I also lifeguarded at Eldwick for four summers and have given many swim lessons at the pool over the years. This community and pool truly mean a lot to me, and I’m so excited to be back and to help coach this season!
Hi my name is Micah Selengut! I’m a life-long Eldwick Shark who grew up loving spaghetti dinners, fun Fridays, breaststroke, and most of all, cheering! When the pool was closed for covid, I used my experience as summer camp instructor at Calleva to help organize a 15-18 led, covid-safe, ‘summer camp’ in our neighborhood parks. Since then, I’ve worked at the Accokeek Foundation at Piscataway Park, the Environmental Protection Agency, and currently work at the Environmental Defense Fund. So many of my best memories were at Eldwick, and I can’t wait to join my co-head coah Kat and you all to bring that joyus spirit and competition of summer swim!
Hello Sharks! My name is Faith Yoon as many of you may know. I’m 17 years old and have been on the Eldwick Sharks since I was 8 years old, which makes this year 9 on the team. I have been a Junior Assistant coach since I was 12. I’ve also given swim lessons, babysat, and lifeguarded for many years now. It’s an honor to be a part of the coaching staff of a team that has shaped who I am as a person today! I am so excited to help the team with spirit, technique, and speed. The entire team including parents, officials, coaches, and kids have helped me grow in so many ways. I am thrilled to be able to be a part of your kids swimming career! Go Sharks!
